Hello. As HMRC is now doing this tax-digital and using AI for auditing - can we please request 2 things, as a matter of urgency?
- EXACT figures - global setting. We need s simple global setting for the system to display ACTUAL figures, not rounded. I know rounded is old-school - but this is catching things out and causing a sizeable amount of unnecessary admin time.
(I replied in another thread but it’s a year old, and although it said it was being expedited, it’s still not available).
- VAT report sorting - chronological: When HMRC requests VAT spreads for VAT audits, the specific HMRC intstructions are that purchases and sales are NOT separated*. A recent, AI/algorithym-triggered VAT review cost me almost a day exporting the data, merging, and sorting.
*This is not stated on the general HMRC web site, you only get this after having records requested for a review by HMRC.
Please provide an option in the VAT screen to just do a chronological view of all transactions for any HMRC requirements.
Thank you.
Is there ANY response to this at all? 24 days not even a note? HMRC reqs aren;t going away… Thanks.
Hi Martin,
Just so you’re aware the API forum is not a FreeAgent Support channel, so there may not be a quick response from FreeAgent Engineers or staff- unlike our Support team who provide super fast Customer Support. We want this forum to be a space where devs can lead the conversation. Our goal is to foster a peer-to-peer environment where you can brainstorm, share custom solutions, and troubleshoot together.
To allow that community dynamic to grow, the FreeAgent team will generally step back from immediate replies, stepping in occasionally.
For your post here, is this a feature request for the app itself, or an API feature request?
I am familiar with the VAT report sorting request and will feed this back to the product team. For the global settings, would I be correct in thinking this is a request to view figures as their full non rounded value? Eg. Rather than £10.47 you would view as £10.4744?
Thank you,
Carly
Hi Carly
Thank you for your reply - it’s not an API request, but in fariness I have trouble calling it a ‘feature’ request because to me, being able to get exact figures and chronologically sort transactions for VAT should be a default with an accounting package?
Exact Figures
WHen a Report, e.g. a ‘Profit/Loss’ is generated, the expenses are rounded, £1,179.48 becomes £1179.00.
If/whern HMRC asks for supporting docs, more and more, these figures do not match and can flag things. With all this Making Tax Digital going on, any inconsistencies can now result ini audits or verification requests which are excruciatingly labourious and unnecessary for small businesses. It’s also maddening to try to reconcile sales and adds to eyestrain to also have to double-take each figure. It may seem negligible, but I assure you with 100s of transactions it is not - especially for those with disabilities.
SOrting
SHould be a default for sorting VAT data as requested by HMRC, aas explained above in my original post? Exporting it all and then messing about in Excel simple to list all VAT-related charges and recalim into chronological order makes a lot of room for mistakes. A toggle for ‘sort by date’ all in one list should be achievable?
I, alongside the others who’ve mentioned this need to be able to toggle an ‘exact figures’ option. Otherwise, if HMRC flags anything - iot can lead to days lost for something that could be a simple fix.
Thank you kindly for your attention and consideration,
Martin
