Hey,
The trial balance endpoint response doesn’t seem to match what’s returned for a period in the UI at all.
Some accounts are returned, others are not and the amounts don’t match what’s in the web app either.
Happy to jump on and run through the difference together if that helps, there’s either some documentation missing in terms of the difference or it just doesn’t work correctly.
Hi Lawrence, Nikolas from FreeAgent here. To help me diagnose the issue for you, could you provide a few more details for me please? It would help to know:
- What date range you’re looking at in the UI, and whether that’s a custom range or if it matches an accounting period
- The URL of your API request, including the dates provided
- An example of an account that is not returned in the API but is in the UI
- Whether all or some accounts that are present in both responses have different totals.

Sorted - the trial balance endpoint is paginated which I hadn’t expected.
