Sandbox vs "real" account

I’m trying to understand the relationship between my “real” FreeAgent account and a sandbox account so would love some help please.

I have a “real” account with several years worth of data. I have a separate sandbox account where I’d like to do API testing. However, my sandbox account is in no way linked to my “real” account, so there is no data in my sandbox account that I can sensibly use. Is this a normal setup?

In essence, do I need to populate my sandbox account myself, or have I missed something and the sandbox account should get regularly refreshed data from my “real” account?

Yeah sandbox and production accounts are completely separate, so you can test in sandbox and not worry about potentially deleting data you shouldn’t. I do agree that it would be nice to import data into your sandbox account though, instead of having to manually create the bank accounts, transactions and such.
