Projects need a default date which you can sort by

I’ve amassed quite a few projects.

I looked to sort them by date, as I’m most interested in the most recent.

Then I realised NONE of them had a start date.

Call me an idiot, but I made the assumption that when you created a project it would make today’s date the default start date, which you could change if necessary.

No, you have scroll down the page, click more options, reveal another box, and then select date. Multiple clicks needed for what could be a default, that the project start date is the date its created.

I went back and put in start dates for 4 projects, then tried to sort by date. It does nothing. See these screen shots:

You can see the arrow pointing up and then pointing down, and in both views, the listing is no different, and not in date order.

So please:

  • move the start/end date to the first project box
  • default the start date to be the date the project is created
  • allow project list to be sorted by date order
  • remember which view you’ve chosen, you see this view every time you look at your projects.

Good afternoon,

Thank you very much for your detailed Feature Request.

I have logged all your suggestions, and these will be reviewed by our Engineering team for consideration in future planning.

Regarding the sorting issue, the column is currently sorted by end date only. In your example, only start dates are entered, so this is why the column isn’t sorting as you would expect. This is not obvious, so I have also logged a request to allow sorting by start date to improve the user experience.

Thanks again,
Tommy

Hello,

By setting the start date to “Today” upon creation, the system ensures every project has a data point. This prevents the “Sorting Vacuum” where the software doesn’t know where to put a project because the date field is null. Critical data shouldn’t be hidden. Moving dates Kia Dealer to the primary view reduces the “click-debt” required to manage your list.
