Journal entries via API?

I need to add a bunch of journal entries to sort out some VAT
mistakes. Aha (I thought) a good candidate for a script, but I can’t
find a way of adding journal entries via the API. Am I missing
something?

I need to correct the VAT on several expense entries. Right now, I’m faced with half a day of point/click/copy/paste tedium.

I see that there’s a GetSatisfaction request for this from a year ago. I can’t quite see the point of a half-finished API.

I totally agree with Toby : for each employes, I have to enter myself 4
journal entries, as a “universal account” :

via either API v1 or v2. It would be good to know what you would like to
do with a journal entries API and I can add it to our list of feature
requests.

I’ve just got a good use-case for journal entries via API, to generate the
5 or so entries per person to replicate the payroll setup.

Hi Howard,

You may have noticed that recently we’ve overhauled the way that journal
entries are entered in the FreeAgent app. This was a pre-requisite to
adding journal entry support to the API, and we’re just putting the
finishing touches to this now.

If you can bear with us for a little longer we’ll have this ready to go.
Watch this space as I’ll let the group know when this has been released.

so, my next attempt was to try to extract the Reclaim entries from the VAT returns and at least generate a guide, but it turns out that the XML for a return does not include its components. My yak is getting hairier by the minute…
