Freeagent API v2 - An Early Christmas Present

Hello,

We have a beta version of the FreeAgent Developer Dashboard for you to
play with. Head over to https://staging.dev.freeagent.com to try it
out.

We have also enabled OAuth 2.0 authentication with the FreeAgent
Sandbox server. Have a look at the docs to see how it works.

https://staging.dev.freeagent.com/docs

This will allow you to authorise Apps with accounts at the FreeAgent
Sandbox. For those of you who participated in our first API v2 Beta,
you can use the Access Token you received as part of the Beta as the
password to the Sandbox account. Just log in with the email address
you signed up with and and use the Access Token as the password.

For those of you who didn’t participate, you can create a new
FreeAgent Sandbox account. Head over to the FreeAgent Developer
Dashboard to get started.

Finally, this only works with the FreeAgent Sandbox server and not
with the real FreeAgent App. We hope to get this live with the real
app early in the New Year.

We would appreciate any and all feedback on any aspect of the
Developer Dashboard, API v2 and our OAuth 2.0 implementation either to
the Google Group or personally to myself and Olly.

Have a Happy Christmas,

Graeme Boyd

Senior Developer

Hi Graeme

This is great, will have a play and provide and feedback on this
channel.

Is the current v1 version of the api likely to remain running for a
while? I have developed a freeagent app for WP7 and would like to
release with this version until I have modified it to use the new api
when it goes live.

thanks

I haven’t been able to spend the time I’d like yet, but I like what I see.

I’d like to make one request for the JSON response objects. If I request a
collection, like /users, each entity in the returned list has a distinct
‘path’ object so it can be found uniquely. But if I request a single
object, e.g., by that ‘path’, the ‘path’ object is not returned. I think
it would help making code a little simpler if ‘path’ were returned in both
instances – so we don’t have to special case for collections vs. singles.

And it doesn’t cost but a handful of chars on the response. The addition
of a ‘path’ to single responses shouldn’t break existing code that’s not
looking for it, I expect.

Thanks.

I tried mine - no joy… :frowning:

(the email was nic@ not nicw@ tho, but thats the same one Olly used
when I got the token)

I dont have data in mine - none that I care about - so I could just
register…?On Tue, Dec 20, 2011 at 18:07, Graeme Boyd graeme.boyd@freeagent.com wrote:

Kamran, is your app in the store (or shots up somewhere)? I know a few
people who use WP7 who want one (same with Android)On Wed, Dec 21, 2011 at 11:24, Kamran Saleem kamran@thinkincode.co.uk wrote:
