Freeagent API: Deleting Transactions

For the most part Freeagent seems to do exactly what I need. I am importing
transactions from my Business Bank account and Paypal Account without
problem.

However our paypal account is associated with multiple different websites
and I only wish to pull in some transactions, not all.

I can see this isn’t possible but decided that a simple solution would be
to import everything and then delete any transactions I want to ignore.
Obviously this is easy to do with the “Delete Transaction” button.

However, to save myself time I thought I could automate this task using the
Freeagent API. But unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a “DELETE” method
for transactions within the API in the same way that there is for
Explanations (for example:
https://dev.freeagent.com/docs/bank_transaction_explanations#delete-a-bank-transaction-explanation
).

Is it possible to add a DELETE method to transactions into the API?

Or is there a way to delete individual transactions within the API that I
am not aware of?

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately it seems I didn’t get a notification
(Google Groups is a little confusing to be honest).

The reason we don’t use multiple Paypal accounts is because we don’t want
to deal with the hassle of signing up for multiple bank accounts and Paypal
requires us to have a bank account associated with each Paypal account.

What I might do is just not utilise your automatic import and use the
Paypal API and Freeagent API to import what I want myself.

This should be easy enough and if I get it working I might even consider
releasing an open source library for others.

Cheers,

Hi Rob,

I’ve double checked the bank-transactions end-point (just in-case there
was some undocumented functionality) and I’m afraid it’s not currently

I’ve created a Feature Request on our API Trello Board with a summary of

We’re planning on giving our API some much needed TLC and, if this feature
gets implemented, I’ll be sure to update this thread.

Apologies that I can’t offer you an immediate solution to your problem,
Rob. I hope you manage to get it sorted.
Perhaps, going forward, it might be worth having separate PayPal accounts
for each business (FreeAgent supports this, including overnight feeds for
each of the accounts).

Kind regards,
