Hi John,
The ‘foreign_currency_value’ field is the amount of any foreign currency in
the transaction. For example, if you have a UK bank account and receive a
payment for 500 US dollars, your bank will show it in the local currency
(GBP). You can set the foreign_currency_value to 500 so that FreeAgent
knows this was a payment for 500 dollars. If this is matched up against an
invoice this ensures the correct portion of the invoice is paid off. To
continue the example, if the 500 USD was part payment for an 800 USD
invoice, setting the foreign_currency_value to 500 ensures FreeAgent
correctly displays that 300 USD of the invoice is still outstanding.
