Hello API users,
This is an important notice that all FreeAgent API users should read. You may need to take action to continue using the Bank Transaction Explanations FreeAgent API.
We’re making changes to our API to allow up to 50 file attachments to be attached to a Bank Transaction Explanation. Currently only a single file attachment is supported.
From 1st December 2026, these changes will become the default behaviour and you’ll no longer be able to interact with attachments for Bank Transaction Explanations as you do today.
As part of this change:

The Bank Transaction and Bank Transaction Explanations API endpoints will return an array of
attachmentsand the singularattachmentattribute will no longer be returned. -
Bank Transaction Explanation file attachments must be added, updated or removed via the new Bank Transaction Explanation Attachments API endpoint.
We encourage you to use this new functionality now by setting the X-Api-Version header to 2026-09-01.
