I am trying to make use of the Freeagent API v2, but am getting stuck
when trying to authorise the API.
I have a freeagent account and created an app after signing up for
a developer account at https://dev.freeagent.com/signup.
When I go to the google playground and click “Authorize APIs” (after
entering my client id and secret in the settings) it takes me to the login
screen and when I enter my login details it keeps telling me “Email or
password not recognised”.
Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
ps. I have found a couple of posts with the same question, but they’re a
bit old and there’s not really any clear answers in them.
Hi Jonathan,
the account I am using now I am already signed up with freeagent, so I did
not do the free trial signup on this account. I simply created a developer
account using the same email and then continued from there.
I did however try using a completely new email account as well and followed
the instructions from the beginning and experienced the exact same problem.

Can I check whether you’re trying to log in with your developer account
credentials, or with the credentials of the temporary FreeAgent user
account at the FreeAgent sandbox you would have set up when following the
Quick Start guide?

Hi there,
An existing account won’t exist in the sandbox (which is a separate
non-production instance of FreeAgent), so your existing FreeAgent account
won’t be able to be used when developing your app against the sandbox.
When you say you tried “using a completely new email account as well”, can
you confirm that this was a trial that you signed up to in the sandbox, as
described in the quick start
https://dev.freeagent.com/docs/quick_startguide? If so, can you let
me know the subdomain and I’ll take a look in the
logs to see what’s happening?
